In the “Heat” of the Moment.Array
We passed our “baptism of fire” during a helper’s day, which was organised by the Bergwacht Hösbach, the local fire brigade and the Red Cross outside the town hall in Hösbach, near Aschaffenburg. Before we could have a go at extinguishing a fire, we learnt that there are foam and powder extinguishers and that we better not use the latter in our office as the powder can damage our technology and interior severely.
Soon enough it was hands-on for team significa. The “warm”- up was done with a fire extinguisher and then we moved on to extinguishing a fire with a blanket – which according to the fire brigade is absolutely sufficient for domestic use. All fires were extinguished without any problem, even though handling a fire blanket required some getting-used-to.
Conclusion: The training was a lot of fun and represents an example to follow. We are now well prepared for a fire in an emergency and there’s definitely no harm in that!
